Dear Friends in Christ,

I write to announce the addition of Tamara Knowles as our Administrative Assistant to the diocesan team. Tamara started at the diocesan office on Monday, September 26.

In this role, Tamara will provide administrative support to the Missioner for Thriving Congregations and the Missioner for Lifelong Formation, and work closely with my Executive Assistant, Tracy Esguerra, with visitation details. She will also assist with retreat and conference planning, Safe Church, Safe Communities trainings, background checks, and collaborate with congregational administrators to ensure compliance and accurate documentation.

“I look forward to working with Chris, Derek, and Bishop Akiyama to creatively help them find efficiencies in their administrative duties, so that they can continue their great missional work,” said Tamara.

Tamara is a native Oregonian and the part-time youth minister at St. Gabriel the Archangel, Portland. She is also a doctoral candidate at Portland Seminary at George Fox University, studying Richard Hooker’s “image of God” to prevent, mitigate, and reconcile when microaggressions occur in The Episcopal Church, and is looking forward to defending her thesis next week. She enjoys traveling, most recently spending time in Germany working on her dissertation.

Tamara’s email is TamaraK@diocese-oregon.org, and she can be reached by phone at (971) 204-4101. Please join me in welcoming Tamara to the diocesan team!

Yours in Christ,
