The Ordination of Elizabeth Klein and SuEllen Pommier to the Diaconate

The Ordination of Elizabeth Klein and SuEllen Pommier to the Diaconate

Elizabeth Gordon Wanzer Klein and SuEllen June Johnson Pommier were ordained deacons in Christ’s holy catholic Church on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, OR. The Rt. Rev. Diana D. Akiyama presided, preached, and consecrated the newly ordained deacons.

“The ordination to the diaconate of Liz Klein and SuEllen Pommier marks the end of one period of discernment and the beginning of the next,” said Bishop Akiyama. “This discernment is not only theirs, it is ours also. The presence of the Holy Spirit enlivens this work and it is a joy to dance in the power of the Spirit! Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make another Covid ordination a success: the Cathedral staff, diocesan team, presenters, lectors, and diocesan clergy who got up early to be present and to affirm their new sisters in Christ.”
