Dear Friends in Christ,
I am delighted to announce Mr. Derek Moyer as the new Missioner for Life-Long Formation for the Diocese. Derek brings to this work extensive experience in higher education as a member of the faculty and administration, most recently at Warner Pacific University and Chemeketa Community College. He describes his approach to teaching and learning as “whole self pedagogy” – inviting the teacher and the student to be fully present in body, mind, and soul to make learning a transformational experience.
Derek, a native Oregonian, is married to Megan Moyer, a school psychologist with Portland Public Schools. They have two children Emerson aged 9 and Lucas, age 6. He is a lay leader at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church in Portland, where he served on the vestry, as Senior Warden, and as Godly Play teacher. He has also been active at the diocesan and convocation level.
“I am deeply grateful and excited to join the Diocese in this new role, and to embrace the ongoing work of cultivating formational experiences that invite us to be continually transformed by the peace-making, justice-making love of God,” said Derek.
Derek holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Theology from Warner Pacific University, a M.A. in IS:IP Sociology, Religious Studies, and Philosophy, and a M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Oregon.

Me complace anunciar que el Sr. Derek Moyer es el nuevo Misionero para la Formación Permanente de la Diócesis. Derek aporta a este trabajo una amplia experiencia en educación superior como miembro de la facultad y la administración, más recientemente en Warner Pacific University y Chemeketa Community College.
Su enfoque de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje la describe como una “autopedagogía total”, invitando al maestro y al alumno a estar plenamente presentes en cuerpo, mente y alma para convertir el aprendizaje en una experiencia transformadora.
Derek, es originario de Oregon, está casado con Megan Moyer, psicóloga escolar de las Escuelas Públicas de Portland. Tienen dos hijos, Emerson de 9 años y Lucas, de 6 años. Él es un líder laico en la Iglesia Episcopal St. David of Wales en Portland, donde sirvió como Mayordomo Mayor en la Junta Parroquial, como y como maestro de Jugando con Dios (Godly Play). También ha estado activo a nivel diocesano y de su convocación.

Derek tiene un B.A. en Filosofía y Teología de la Universidad de Warner Pacific, una Maestría en SI: Sociología de la Propiedad Intelectual, Estudios Religiosos, y una Maestría en Filosofía de la Universidad de Oregon.
