Overview:
St. David of Wales Episcopal Church is seeking a Building Curator, working for 8 hours a week.
This position will manage the rental processes for St. David of Wales facilities, along with
maintaining relationships with renters and Building Partners. This position works closely with
church staff and volunteers. The right candidate must be a great communicator, organized, and
able to work independently while being proactive.

St. David of Wales is an Episcopal church located in the Division/Hawthorn neighborhood of

Responsibilities:

  • Manage our building community of nonprofits, musicians, schools, and event space
  • Coordinate, document, and maintain the schedule for all external and internal users of the parish building.
  • Nurture healthy relationships with our building partners: check in with each building partner regularly and monitor their usage of the building.
  • Respond to building use inquiries from our building partners and our parish
  • members.
  • Provide building walk-through tours for potential new building partners upon request. Know the building well enough to speak to its positive attributes. Must be comfortable with in-person site showings to new groups of people.
  • Work with existing building partners to expand their usage of the building and document their concerns with any building issues.
  • Negotiate new building use contracts with new building partners and negotiate renewed building use contracts, as well as one-time user agreements for one-day or special event usage of the building.
  • Track building partner invoices and payments and document what building partners are fully paid up, and which building partners are in arrears. Work with a bookkeeper to bill building partners for their use of the building on a timely basis.
  • Partner with St. David’s vestry and committee members to set rates for building partners and renters. Document these stated rates for all building partners.
  • Deliver information to our building administrator to post information online about our building partner program.
  • Act as one of our first responders for all building partner-related emergencies (Examples: Tripped alarms, WiFi or heat issues, scheduling conflicts, etc.)
  • Identify potential partners for the parish. Communicate with vestry, parish members, and church committee members to help them recruit these partners to use our building (this job can’t do it all – you’ll need to partner with our parish members)

Skills:

  • Communication abilities in writing, phone and in-person, and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with many stakeholders both in and out of the building.
  • Solid ability to manage and maintain positive relationships with a variety of people from different organizations.
  • Proficiency with Google Documents and online systems such as Google Drive
  • Light bookkeeping experience or aptitude, with Quickbooks familiarity preferred
  • General office skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
