Enrollment is now open for the Fall Term of the Academy for Formation and Mission.
Fall Term 2018 Classes
Faith meets World Friday Evenings (5:00 – 5:50 p.m.): an exploration of baptismal, diaconal, and presbyteral formation in context of the world
Pastoral Care Friday evenings (7:00 – 9:00 p.m.): In this class students learn basic skills used in pastoral care while engaging in ministry. With a dozen years’ experience as a chaplain the Rev. Wes Sedlacek will walk with students in this vitally important work.
Anglican Identity Saturday mornings (8:45 – 11:45 a.m.): This course explores the question, “What does it mean to identify as an Anglican?” by looking at history, theology, ecclesiology, and praxis in the Anglican tradition. The Rev. Andy McQuery brings his passion and expertise to this foundational study.
Academy Eucharist (12:00-1:00 p.m.): an integral part of an Academy weekend. Priests and deacons throughout the diocese come to serve at our service. Academy students share liturgical responsibilities including planning, reading, preaching, acolyting, and writing prayers of the people.
New Testament I Saturday Afternoons (2:00-5:00 p.m.): Students will gain familiarity with the content and structure, distinctive theology, and introductory matters (e.g., date, authorship, and occasion) of the four NT gospels and the historical narrative of Acts. After a quarter-century teaching Biblical Studies, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Brian Jones to The Academy.
